AMPG PROTOCOLS [SHOWCASE DJs]

BONUS: DJ BIO TEMPLATE PRINTOUT INCLUDED

Whereas, before, DJs have become accustomed to playing hour-long sets, during ANOM!LE/STARSH!P showcase "specials", the intended length of a DJ "micro-mix" set is 15 and 30 minutes (or apx. 4 and 8 records).

We insist on this parameter so that all featured DJs may have equal opportunity to be heard/experienced, even throughout the night, so that the event’s vibe and mood changes every half-hour and to make time for the featured act(s).

The presiding music director will dictate which length and vibe is preferred, according to when the featured acts are to take the stage (ie. a 15min. Rock act may be preceded by a 30 min. classic rock/Top 40 breakbeats DJ set and likewise, a rap act may be preceded with a Hip-Hop DJ set, etc.).

Note: Not all ANOM!LE events will be constricted to quarter or half-hour micro-mixsets, only events with featured acts/performance artists or intermittent presentations.

DJ-dominant parties may keep hour-long parameters, unless specified in the written/contracted format of the event.

CUES: DON’T “SPOOK THE HERD”! - The performing DJs are to receive their cues to begin and end each set from the host, as they announce.

The presiding music director (not always the host) will confer with the host and the stage manager concerning the next act’s performance time.

The music director has primary authority over the vibe of the event (superseding all, even other event shareholders, due to contract security) and may arbitrate the switching-out of DJs as a coach would, a player, to and from the field during a game.

Please, be a team player and comply diligently, which is appreciated (in cases of being asked to switch with another act or DJ, or to be asked to break from/end your set early).

We understand an artist’s passion for certain styles, but ANOM!LE’s vibrational parameters gear more toward tranquility than tension, "love" and the de-emphasis of sex, more "courage" instead of violence and more of a focus on "anti-matter based wealth" than on material riches.

If the music leaves these parameters and becomes too aggressive or vulgar, the music director has been instructed to rectify the situation by ANOM!LE’s head.

Prompt compliance will be met by later professional considerations and commendations.

EGOS - Come without them.

Egotism has gotten us only to where we are today.

The only way to transcend is to dump the heavy baggage.  Forget how “everyone else” does it because we are not them, but much more.

We offer professionally available, approachable administrators, a myriad of different types of events and production service packages and enough liberty to call upon them freely, so if you do not like how a particular event is going/being run (or do not appreciate a particular aspect), then please write (your petition) or rewrite it (your better idea) and submit it to us, rather than by passive/aggression, indiscreet complaints or becoming rashly disenfranchised without adequate explanation (as one renders oneself legally libel for online/text complaints or "bashing").

We respect you as a valuable part of our honorable family, welcome corrections, new shows and would be happy to assist you in executing your own, if we are able, in whole or in part.

Likewise, when we are in production, ANOM!LE appreciates the professionalism of those who allow the event’s completion before discretely airing their grievances. After all, we all are holding our tongue about something or other, also; no one is really exempt, not even ANOM!LE.

ABANDONING SHIP - Even DJs sometimes have to leave, early. If a DJ has to leave early, then please, supply prior notification and if possible, supply a pre-signed replacement for the remainder of the event.

However, the featured DJ may not be replaced from the helm/decks, they must first either finish their set or be relieved by another contracted DJ and then report to the music director before leaving so that the replacement may be registered, briefed and appropriated.

Replacements therefore become responsible for any equipment or effects left behind by the replaced.

NO MONITORS? - Sometimes, the venue may not have additional sound monitors and quite frankly, neither do you, at the time. Keep your cool.

Instead of harassing the other busy administrators to help you or wasting time on the phone, begging people who will want payment, want to impose on your stage time/lineup schedule, or those who couldn’t care less, do this-
..set up as near to the house speakers as possible, without blocking the stage.

This brings the sound latency down to a minimum and also links where the DJ is with where the music is. We have discovered that people tend to gravitate towards the speakers, not necessarily to the geographic location of the dancefloor, lights, nor DJ booth itself.

Tip (DIY Create-a-monitor):
Be sure to always carry a thumb drive on your keychain with music on-hand to play from, audio adapters for ¼th” conversion to 1/8th” and a 1/8th” conversion to a ¼th” male headphone plugs, a dual splitter (1/8th” single male-to-1/8th” double female) and a set of earbuds, to act as a makeshift monitor to use underneath the larger cueing headphones.

You may be able to plug your earbuds into the mixer’s “monitor” jack without having to use the splitter at all, only using the adapter. If possible, promptly send someone to a 24 hour-mart with about $30 (recoupable) for the items.

You can always return them the next day; just remember to keep your receipt, to avoid any snags doing so.

NOT EVERYONE LIKES SURPRISES - Featured DJs must not add-on unscheduled portions (guest DJs, emcees, vocalists, impromptu jam/scratch sessions, etc.) to a previously formatted show, rather DJs may plan a showcase with the add-ons factored in and submit it (in writing) to ANOM!LE for clearance and execution at a later, more appropriate date/event.

This keeps the sponsors and stock holders happy (avoiding unwarranted, hazardous use of equipment) and insures that the current event goes as planned, at least from our end of the spectrum (scheduling adherence).

CONCERNING EQUIPMENT (“STOCK”) - As we all know by now, no one person has the equipment and resources to fill out an entire event and many times, it is the concerted efforts of many different stock holders to do their part in making the event/job a success.

In exchange for limited access to members’ resources, ANOM!LE offers the utilization of its own, in kind (equipment, production, graphics, filming, promotional services, labor resource, etc.).

We recognize the impending inconvenience, but assure that the utmost care is taken of others’ “stock” entrusted to any of us, as we all sign to it (no one, not in membership is allowed stock in their possession) nor may any members pass/trade stock in the name of ANOM!LE without expressed written license and brokerage from ANOM!LE’s head.

While ANOM!LE is constantly working to generate revenue to all its extremities, we will do everything that we can to pay proper consideration or assist in any efforts that your plans require in exchange for your willingness to be a partner with us.

PARTYING v. WORKING - Smoking and drinking may sometimes be allowed in the venue/event, but during shows, refrain from drinking or smoking around or while operating the equipment.

Your cigarette ash may burn a record plate, your drink may spill on the mixer or on a power cord or the alcohol may make you clumsy enough to trip over the many cords, bags and into the equipment setup itself.

We will not be able to ultimately control the behavior of others but we can, of ourselves. Thus, responsibility of equipment damage will lie upon the person causing the damage ( if not, the pre-signed individual operating the equipment at the time, but only if they indeed caused the damage).

NO CROWDING THE STOCK - To insure the security of stock, when in use at an event, all stock must be bordered off by either barricade, roping or tape, and enough room to warrant passage and operation without hazard.

In kind, ANOM!LE expects its pre-signed partners to honor its pledge for "all parts to protect all parts".

Refrain from allowing crowds to form too close to the setup. Thievery can happen if the DJs record bags and equipment are too close to random party/event-goers, the crowd could bump, trip into the setup or in reverse, too many people in the DJ booth can also put stock at risk from the other side.

Therefore, we commit to two people maximum at a DJ setup at a time (plus technical support/border patrol, standing by) and only pre-signed personnel and/or operators behind the barriers.

“HEY, WE’RE NOT STUPID!” - Lastly and also unfortunately, ANOM!LE and applicable companies, involved in said events claim financial, legal/civic exemption for any lost, damaged, stolen or misplaced equipment/possessions or social/civic penalties, when its (the equipment) owner is present for the event and the operation of their equipment, and has left the area or venue, without notification to the proper administrator so that it may be secured or damages/loses equipment/possessions due to personal irresponsibility (ie., getting drunk, ejected and/or arrested, forgetting where you left your equipment and its parts, traffic tickets, boots/towing, open or outstanding bar tabs, ruined pants, bail, etc.).
ANOM!LE accepts financial responsibility for lost stolen, damaged equipment, utilized without the owner present and/or having left the event with proper notification to ANOM!LE, thereby turning over the equipment to store and secure, to which arrangements may be made for cost of repair, restoration or replacement.

In exception, ANOM!LE is willing to split costs under circumstances beyond either’s control during an event (damage caused by power surges, natural disasters, police raids, siege of war, Armageddon, etc.).
